What is scanix Bus RFID Attendance?

scanix Bus RFID is the fully-automated counterpart to Bus QR and Bus Barcode — instead of a Bus Operator manually scanning each passenger's card, an RFID scanner installed on the bus itself automatically detects every student as they board or de-board, with no scan action required from the driver, conductor, or student.

Every student is issued a UHF (Ultra High Frequency) RFID Card. Unlike the short-range proximity cards used in scanix's campus RFID system, UHF tags are readable from a distance — students simply need to have the card on them (in a bag, pocket, or on their ID lanyard) as they step onto or off the bus; there's no need to tap, swipe, or hold it up to a reader. This makes Bus RFID the fastest and most hands-free way to take attendance during the hectic, time-pressured boarding process at a school bus stop.

The instant a student's card is detected by the bus-mounted scanner, scanix triggers a real-time SMS to the parent — and the message itself is context-aware. A boarding detection sends a "Boarded Bus" alert, while a de-boarding detection is smart enough to distinguish the two possible directions of travel and sends the relevant message accordingly — "Reached School" when the student gets off at the school stop, or "De-boarded Bus — Heading Home" when they get off at their home-side stop.
